Ziyang Xuan
I am an incoming student in the Master's Program in Computer Science (MPCS) at the University of Chicago, building on my undergraduate training in Mathematics at the University of Michigan (LSA), where I transferred after two years at Stony Brook University.
My academic focus spans statistical learning, reinforcement learning, and the foundational logic of computational systems. I am deeply drawn to understanding the mathematical principles behind machine learning as well as the low-level mechanisms of computing—how systems operate from the ground up. This dual curiosity drives my pursuit of advanced studies in CS, bridging theoretical rigor with engineering applications.
